Nu har beslut fattats om Nationell högspecialiserad vård (NHV) för den könsbekräftande vården.
Vi är positiva till att beslut äntligen kommit. Detta är en process som dragit ut på tiden och lett till stor osäkerhet både hos patienter och vårdgivare.
Vi vet att många oroar sig över att vården kommer att bli mindre tillgänglig runt om i landet, nu när den centreras till tre enheter. Vår analys, efter samtal med Socialstyrelsen och med beslutet som nu kommit, så kommer de flesta enheter som arbetat med könsbekräftande vård finnas kvar, men i samverkan med en av de regionerna som utför NHV. Modellen ser ut såhär:
- Region Stockholm samarbetar med Region Uppsala
- Region Östergötland samarbetar med Region Skåne
- Västra Götalandsregionen samarbetar med Region Västerbotten.
Vi är positiva till att Socialstyrelsen lyssnat på oss, och andra, som lyft vikten av att inte ta bort vården, framförallt i Västerbotten. Däremot vet vi i dagsläget inte hur detta kommer se ut i praktiken. Vårt mål är såklart att vården ska vara så tillgänglig som möjligt och det är också något vi kommer fortsätta trycka på i samtal med Socialstyrelsen och de berörda regionerna.
Vi hoppas att beslutet om NHV på sikt kommer att ge kortare vårdköer och en vård som är mer likvärdig och förutsägbar över hela landet. Vi är dock oroade över hur situationen kommer utvecklas på kort sikt. Hur ska vårdköerna minskas nu? Hur ska bemanningen säkerhetsställas på de enheter som redan misslyckats med den uppgiften i flera år? Hur ska det kontrolleras att vården blir likvärdig över hela landet? Detta är frågor vi tar med oss i fortsatta samtal med Socialstyrelsen och framförallt med de regionerna som nu ska utföra den nationella högspecialiserade vården.

A decision has now been made regarding National high specialized healthcare (NHV) for the gender affirming healthcare.
We are relieved that a decision finally has been made. This is a process that has taken a long time and lead to a great deal of uncertainty for both patients and care givers.
We know that many worry that the gender affirming healthcare will be less accessible around the country, now that it will be centered around three units. Our analysis, after dialogue with Socialstyrelsen and after reading the decision, is that most units that have offered gender affirming care will remain, but in collaboration with the regions that perform the NHV. It will be structured as follows:
- Region Stockholm will collaborate with Region Uppsala
- Region Östergötland will collaborate with Region Skåne
- Västra Götalandsregionen will collaborate with Region Västerbotten
We are relieved that Socialstyrelsen have listened to us, and others, who have raised concerns regarding the removal of geographically accessible healthcare (especially in Västerbotten). However we do not, at this moment, know what this new model will look like in practice. Our goal is, of course, that the gender affirming care should be as geographically accessible as possible and it is something that we will continue to bring up in our talks with Socialstyrelsen and the responsible regions.
We are hopeful that the decision about NHV eventually will result in shorter waiting times for the gender affirming care and a care that is more equal and predictable care all around Sweden. However, we are worried about how the situation will develop in the short term. How will the waiting times be shortened now? How will the staffing issue be solved by the units that have failed the same task for several years? How will they ensure that the gender affirming care becomes equal throughout Sweden? Those are questions we will keep asking Socialstyrelsen and the regions who are now resposible for NHV.
